Federal Compass was founded by two practitioners, Chad Ganske and Jim Sherwood, with over 30 years’ experience in developing opportunity tools and market intelligence solutions for government contractors. The founders represent a rare mix of experience, knowledge and passion.
Chad has worked in the federal market intelligence space for over 15 years. He began his career as an engineer at Silicon Valley-based Oracle Corp. After leaving Oracle, Chad joined INPUT, which later became GovWin. There, he oversaw all engineering activities for their market intelligence data platform, as well as the integration of Federal Sources, Centurion and Onvia platforms. Chad has a comprehensive understanding of the federal market intelligence industry and the technology needed to deliver its most compelling product.

Jim has over 15 years of experience building and delivering market intelligence solutions for government contractors. He joined INPUT in 2004, where he was responsible for managing and modernizing their federal market intelligence products. Jim later worked for Wolf Den Associates, where he managed a strategic-focused market intelligence consulting practice. Jim’s experience with both subscription products and consulting engagements has given him unique insights into the complex and dynamic needs that exist in this market.

Mr. Hewitt founded Federal Sources Inc. (FSI), a Federal market intelligence provider in 1984. In 2004, Mr. Hewitt joined the board of INPUT, a leading provider of market intelligence. Deltek would later acquire both INPUT and FSI and form what is known today as GovWin. Prior to founding FSI, Mr. Hewitt was Senior Vice President at Kentron; held senior-level positions at Computer Sciences Corporation (now CSRA) that included President of INFONET Government Systems Division and Vice President of Program Development of the Systems Group; started and managed the Federal government operations at Boeing Computer Services. Mr. Hewitt has also held a position on the boards of GTSI, Halifax, Analex, and Sigaba. Mr. Hewitt has sat on the Advisory Boards of Fortress Technologies, ProSight, DSA, and Information Technology Association of America (ITAA).
Mr. Hewitt served on Virginia’s First Commission on Information Technology. He received his B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from North Carolina State University and his Masters of Business Administration from Long Island University.
Mr. Hewitt’s background provides Federal Compass with an invaluable source of knowledge about the Federal contracting market and Federal market intelligence. His experience as the founder of FSI and INPUT board member make him a uniquely qualified subject matter expert.
Kevin is VP, Solution Architecture at Salient CRGT where his background in business capture, architecture, technology, business analytics, team leadership, and client management all inform his approach to developing solutions for Salient CRGT’s strategic pursuits. From understanding and developing the “Why” of his company, to telling the story itself, Kevin strikes a balance between the art and science of a compelling solution. Through the course of his career, Kevin has developed an intimate knowledge of the federal contracting market and broad experience in developing tactical and strategic pursuits. His background provides Federal Compass with critical insights into activities throughout the lifecycle of the capture process, as well as those activities that factor prominently into Federal Compass customer objectives.
Before joining Salient CRGT, Kevin was Vice President at Wolf Den Associates, a leading strategy and management consultancy for the Federal Contracting community. He began his career at Price Waterhouse, then Oracle, then SRA, where he assumed multiple technical leadership positions prior to shifting his career to capture strategy and solution architecture. His diverse experience across small and large organizations spanning information technology and consulting disciplines—including insights across hundreds of clients and partners in the Federal space—provides Federal Compass with a broad perspective of the Federal marketplace.
Kevin is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a certified Project Management Professional, ITIL practitioner, Scrum Master, and GSEC certified cyber-practitioner. He spent his formative years working on construction, demolition, moving, delivery, and roofing crews, which led to his deep desire to no longer wear steel-toed boots for a living. He lives in Oakton, VA with his wife and two dogs. His son attends the London School of Economics.
Connelly is the Chief Executive Officer at Birdsong Partners, a marketing consulting organization. Prior to Birdsong, Connelly was Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of ConnellyWorks, Inc., a full-service technology marketing and communications agency. Prior to starting ConnellyWorks, Connelly had a long career as a Washington, DC-based reporter and editor for a range of publications. She also held senior positions in private industry, helping technology companies tell their story in the government space. An active participant and frequent speaker in the government technology community, Connelly is a graduate of American University, Washington, DC.
Through her diverse career path, Connelly has gained a unique perspective on the Federal contracting market. She provides Federal Compass with a key resource that has extensive knowledge and expertise in branding and public relations within the Federal market.
Mr. Ingram is the founder and Chief Executive Officer at Ingram Group, a management consulting firm established in 2001. He currently sits on the Advisory Boards for the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), and Capital TechSearch. From 2010 through 2012, Mr. Ingram was Managing Director of Analytics at Centurion Research Solutions, a market intelligence provider later acquired by Deltek to join INPUT and Federal Sources Inc., to become what is known today as GovWin. Prior to Centurion, he was Partner at Inc. CEO Project from 2009 through 2011; Chairman of the Foundation Board for Suburban Hospital from 2005 through 2009; President US Sales and Consulting Services for PSI Net from 2000 through 2001; Chief Executive Officer at Life Cycle Technology from 1985 through 2000; Vice President at Planning Research Corporation (PRC) from 1982 through 1985; and Senior Manager at IBM from 1973 through 1982.
Mr. Ingram received his B.A. and M.A. in Physics and Mathematics from Pepperdine University and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas.
Mr. Ingram’s background provides Federal Compass with expertise in information technology, analytics, the Federal contracting market, and market intelligence. His understanding of the development, usability, and application of software products has been critical in the foundation of Federal Compass capabilities.
